Conferencing in the West

Ahoy! This week I am in the fine city of Seattle, learning all about Flex technology. I flew out on Sunday, experiencing the fine service offered by US Airways. My favorite part was when I lowered my tray table, to find an advertisement by Ford Motor Co. asking “Not enough leg room? Try a new Escalade” (or some other monstrous vehicle). And I thought, how could an airline take money from another company showcasing how crappy the airline’s experience is? Curious, no?

I was able to meet my dad (who lives about an hour north of Seattle in Mukilteo) on Monday for dinner. He came into the city — I am staying downtown — and we took a walk over to a lovely dining establishment attached to a hotel where we sampled a marvelous charcuterie plate (mmmm, fancy salamis), and then I had a very nice piece of halibut with caramelized onions and potatoes. For desert I had a sweet corn gelato, which tasted like a mildly sweetened corn muffin blended into ice cream. Delicious.

So while I’m out here feasting on crab, salmon, and flash-based technology, Blossom and Isaac are at home hosting a visit from Blossom’s sister Leah and their parents. I head back to Boston on Thursday, and so hopefully will have time to hang out with the in-laws before they head back to parts southern. Then I plan to update ye ol’ website with pictures and movies I have in the queue. So stay tuned.
