Baby’s first bath, a classic! I gave Isaac his bath while Blossom filmed. Everything went pretty smoothly, except at the end when I tried to wash his face he started hollering. He was one good smelling baby for a couple of hours. Today he has already spit moo all over himself and is stinky again, [...]
On Thursday my dad was in Boston on a one day business trip, but we found time to haul him out into the burbs to meet Isaac for the first time. We sat around for an hour or two staring at the boy and it was a pretty good time. Hopefully Jess and Marie will [...]
Yesterday we went over to Concord to take a walk with Tracy, Justin, and Maisy. Blossom met Tracy in a pre-natal exercise class, and we had baby school with them as well. They live over at Concord Academy where Justin is a teacher, so we packed up all our travel gear and drove over to [...]
Isaac J. is one sleepy baby, and before a feeding we usually do a diaper change to invigorate him. Here’s a typical wake-up session, showing his squirm in fine form. Apologies for the low quality; ’twas dark in the room.
Check it out, he’s half Vulcan.
Isaac’s arrival required a redefinition of roles and responsibilities in the household. Blossom’s primary role is care and feeding of Isaac along with food production. My primary role is to do everything else. I have specifically defined one of my everything else roles as the official Feces and Urine Disposition Officer (FUDO). Also known as [...]
Twice now the boy has managed to flip himself completely over from his back to his stomach. On his thirteenth day of life Blossom had him on the changing table. His normal changing table behavior is full on squirm-mode (which makes putting a diaper on him at 4 in the morning an exercise in frustration). [...]
Like many a good parent we want to stimulate Isaac’s tiny brain to encourage his geniusness. Finding time to do this between naps, feeding, pumpings, laundrey, and cooking is challenging. Plus little man isn’t all that interactive yet. We have this funky play mat loaded with good stuff, which I have faith he will pay [...]
We have been working with Michele Stolos, a very good lactation consultant. She put us on a plan where we pump and bottle feed, while working on building up milk supply and practicing with Isaac on the breast, the lazy sod. He latches on pretty well, but then he falls asleep in two minutes. As [...]
Holy jeezum this baby is out of control. He’s a flailer. I can’t swaddle him with the medium blankets we have; he’s strong enough to pull his arms out. I need bigger blankets. Only 6 days old and when he gets going he can almost turn himself over.
