Finally it’s spring in New England. After a solid week of rain we’ve got sunshine and 70 degrees. Alas, Blossom has come down with a nasty cold and is viewing our fine weather through a stuffed head. Peculiarly it came on strong as we were in baby class last Thursday; she was unable to practice stage two breathing (i.e., the short pant) because it hurt her throat. That class we learned all about the stages of labor and watched a video of a birth filmed at Emerson, where we are delivering (and where class is). So we got a nice preview of how everything is set up. In a couple of weeks we get the full tour of the maternity ward which will be nice. We saw in the video that they have a couple of whirlpool tubs up there which is pretty tasty. Probably only moms are allowed in them though.
Last week we finally got the last of the major work done on our house. New floors in the living room / dining room and in the kitchen, and the tile backsplash for the countertops. We hired some nice Russian dudes to do the floors, and I did the backsplash. They turned out pretty well for my first tile job, although we still need to figure out how to finish off the top of them. So the house is looking pretty good now.
We also started making a huge number of lists, for baby stuff, hospital gear, home supplies and what not. Things are moving pretty quickly (12 weeks to go!!) and we’ve still got a lot of work to do. But we are both feeling pretty excited this week, which is a pleasant respite from the terror I often feel.
