I believe that the solution to our social ills lies not in the redistribution of wealth via government but through the responsible behavior of individuals.
But by God we have this great big government full of people and those people have got to DO SOMETHING. They can’t make people behave responsibly, so what they do instead is spend money on stuff they think will make society better.
Ah but maybe they can be make people contribute to society. I propose that the government collects time instead of money. Every person would have to do some minutes of community service per dollar earned. I’m guessing it would be just as ineffective at solving societies problems as throwing endless dollars at them, and it would get people out of the house.
