Boston Wine Expo 2004

Whoever invented this is a friggin’ genius. One pays some money and then can sample beverages from over 300 wineries. Plus gourmet foods, cooking demonstrations, and a free wine glass. We went last weekend and it was glorious.

Admittedly there is a lot of swill in this place. So you have to be a trooper and sample a LOT of wine. But man you can find some nummy stuff. The ports were especially good, and surprisingly so were a number of French blends containing cabernet franc.

We polished off the evening with dinner at the Ristorante Villa -Francesca in Boston’s north end. I had baby cow with mozzarella in a white wine sauce, and Blossom had penne with artichokes and a chili oil sauce.

Sunday I felt like that half wedge of pepperoni that gets stuck to the pizza box then sits on the counter all night, but it was worth it.
