I was reading the news and came across the tragic story of the demise of an amusement park repair guy. This poor sod was lubricating the track of a circular roller coaster when the cars went by and caught his long hair, hoisting him 40 feet into the air. His hair then tore loose, and he fell onto a fence and died.
This is a grisly tale which reinforces my belief that the universe is some giant death engine, waiting to destroy me through happenstance. How can people engage in high risk activities like jumping out of airplanes when the universe is just waiting for you to trip on your shoelace so it can suck you into a street cleaner and grind you to a pulp.
I say everyone needs to maximize their odds of survival. Slow down a little bit, don’t drive like maniacs, eat right and exercise, and get a haircut.
