Ask Tog tells me what I am

For a couple of years now I have been describing myself as a Cognitive Psychologist / Information Architect / Usability Engineer. I used to be a User Experience Designer, was almost an Interaction Designer, and currently am a Senior Designer. Now Bruce Tognazzini tells me I am an Interaction Architect.

I got no beef with that. I just wish the title shake out would happen a little faster. Mark Hurst labels the whole debate stinky cheese, but I disagree. I think that if the industry would settle on relatively standard titles with relatively standard roles then product managers, project managers, and developers of all sorts could begin to have a standard expectation of what we people can do to facilitate the development and sale of a product. Then maybe we don’t have to spend so much time educating and arguing to get our contributions made and can spend more time improving user’s experiences with products
