#1 grade-A American style blues

I just picked up a fine cd by one Sonny Boy Williams. Sonny Boy plays a mean harmonica; according to Robert Lockwood, That bigfoot motherf——er could play that harp, man. Sonny Boy was born somewhere in Mississippi in the late 1800’s, played on the road and the radio for awhile, then ended up in Chicago in the 50’s doing recording sessions with Chess records.

My favorite lyrics:

I’m beggin you baby
cut out that off the wall jive
if you can’t treat me no better
it’s got to be your funeral and my trial

The cd is from the Chess 50th anniversity collection, and is entitled His Best. Samples can be heard at TowerRecords.com.
